Do you have favorite cat books? I found two silly cat books and a third that warms my heart and brings me to tears. I’d love to hear what cat books – or other animal books you enjoy!

Cat book #1: I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats

Written by Francesco Marciuliano, I Could Pee on This is a hilarious book of poems that absolutely could have been written by cats. Boy, it rings true for those of us who live with cats. This book reminds us of the humor in their behavior, even as we find it exasperating at times! And the pictures are adorable.

Here are few poems to listen to!

Cat book #2: Cat vs Human Fairy Tails

Yasmine Surovec, a cartoonist, created a visually enjoyable twist on many of the fairy tales I grew up with. Fairy Tails is Volume 4 of the Cat vs Human series, so if you like it, like I did, there’s more to enjoy!

I think my favorite is Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Goldilocks the CAT walks into the bear’s house. She tries each bed but one’s too hard, one’s too soft or and the last one is just plain “meh!” She says to herself, “I deserve the best, after all!” Then she spies… a box and snuggles in. In the end, she’s the Baby Bear’s cat.

Cat book #3: Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World

If you don’t know about Dewey, his story is one you will be glad to learn. Author Vicki Myron found Dewey stuffed in a book return on a “bitterly cold Iowa Monday” in January. This tiny kitten was malnourished and suffered from frostbite. But Dewey, full name, “Dewey Readmore Books,” survived and thrived as he became the beloved Library Cat of Spencer, Iowa.

Dewey brought the staff together, greeted everyone who came into the library, hung out with the children during story hour. And he made a habit of spending time with people who needed companionship, which made them feel special. Dewey ended up with fan base all over the world after his story was written up in newspapers.

Vicky takes us through 19 wonderful years of stories with Dewey. I loved reading it again because I was reminded of how much love and silliness my cats bring into my life every day.
