“Is animal communication a scam?” seemed to be a recurring question in one of Elliot in the Morning’s podcasts. Back in the day, when I was driving to work, I loved listening to Elliott. He and his team are irreverent and funny, but Elliott’s always willing to hear other peoples’ points of view. I like that.

The Washington Post article

Elliott and his team had discussed the Washington Post article,  Does your dog miss you while you’re on vacation? Ask a pet psychic by Andrea Sachs.

Andrea asked insightful questions like, “Wasn’t I just reading an animal’s behavior and giving information through that?” I am not generally physically present with either the person or their animal during our reading – we do a Zoom meeting or phone call. I explained that I use a mind-to-mind communication rather than watching the animal’s behavior.

It was a great article. But it got a lot of negative comments about it being tabloid journalism (ouch!)  If that’s what it takes to open peoples’ minds, I’ll survive the criticism.

Talking about animal communication as a scam

It’s OK with me if people talk about animal communication being a scam. I’ve been to psychics who I trust, and ones that I thought were…sketchy.

My path to trusting it’s not a scam

When my dogs started communicating mind-to-mind with me, I wondered what the heck was going on.

First, I checked to see if I was sane. Yes, I was. I had retired from the Navy and worked for an association for decades. I had my quirks, but who doesn’t?

Then I checked to see if I was making up the communication from my dogs. No way! It was too real to dismiss and too unexpected for me to think I had “wished” it into being.

Scamming folks just isn’t for me. So, I wasn’t going to continue if the session didn’t make a difference. So I looked for evidence that my work  with people and their animals (not just my dogs) was real.

As an example, Postcards From Your Pet was created after a client asked me to connect with her cats while she was on vacation. I had never thought of that. But I tried it. Previously, her cats hid from the cat sitter and didn’t eat food while she was gone. With my daily communication, her cat sitter reported that the cats came out from under the bed. They started eating again. It worked; it was real!

To be transparent, my success rate is not 100%. But enough people say that I helped them and their beloved companion that I’m comfortable with continuing this wonderful adventure.

Here are testimonials from those who worked with me!
