Want to connect and communicate intuitively with your animals? Change your mindset!

Your animal companions are already intuitively communicating

Assume that your animals want to and ARE already communicating intuitively with you. If this isn’t your mindset, it’s time for a reset! This reset allows you start to experience what they are communicating intuitively.

Try these techniques to communicate intuitively and see what you get!

Have some fun

To start the conversation, ask your companion a question. Use your imagination to pay attention to what comes through.

Whatever comes through, just for fun, think to yourself, If they could talk, I swear they just told me…” Trust that whatever you received is true.

View intuitive communication from their perspective

I’ve met people who say someone’s animal is dumb or slow. They just don’t get what we’re communicating.

So, how about we turn that thought around?

At one point my pets were telling tell each other, “You know, you just have to accept that Maribeth is a little slow. We’ve tried everything, but she just doesn’t get it. We’ll just have to stay patient with her!”

Is it possible that your animal companions are having the same conversation about you?

LOL.

Go deeper

Allow yourself to hear about family relationships, physical sensations, personal preferences.

But it’s not all about treats and belly rubs. I’ve met animals who told me how they’d like their end-of-life transition to go – who should be there and where it should be.

Grace Dog Training and Behaviour

Argos, Tatonka, Ana, Grace, Meg

Here’s a great story about Ana Melara’s dog, Argos, who had died.

Ana intuitively heard that Argos wanted a shrine in his honor.

Ana wondered, “Why would Argos want a shrine?” I pointed out that we were currently doing the presentation in her Grace Dog Training & Behavior center. Ana named it after Grace, their previous dog who passed. As Ana thought about it, she realized Argos figured if Grace got the company named after her, the least he could get was a small shrine!

So there is now a shelf full of Argos’ pictures and lovely mementos in Ana’s home.

Communication equation

Use this equation to communicate intuitively:

Words + Visualization + Emotion = Communicating.

With behaviors, speak or think what you want you’d like them to do. (This is a request, not a demand.) Visualize this behavior in your mind’s eye.

As you do, send them an emotion you’ll experience when they do the behavior. I’ve found that showing positive behaviors you want and adding the joy (and relief) when they start doing them, increases positive outcomes.

And please use negative examples and emotions sparingly. In my experience,  they can shut down your connection. (Do you love being criticized?)

Reconsider the “Humans are Top Dog” Belief

So most of us were taught there is a hierarchy on earth with humans as “top dog” over other animals.

But here’s the flaw with species-hierarchical thinking. When we conclude we are superior and everyone else is inferior, it discourages intuitive communication.

Truthfully, our companions dearly love us, yes, but they also know us. As an example, a cat told his guardian he was worried she was becoming a hoarder – and she agreed!

So, let’s choose a partnership with animals instead of a hierarchy with humans on top.

In your relationship with animal companions, cultivate leadership rather than dominance. Respect the animal goes a long way in opening intuitive communication channels.
