Helping a man say goodbye to his dogs before his transition

I was honored to help a man say goodbye to his dogs before he transitioned. Mostly, I work I work with animals who might be ready to transition, not people ready to transition.

In those cases, I connect with the animals to find how they’re holding up.

Many times, I share the following with their people:

  • Whether they’re in pain.
  • If they’re ready to go.
  • What will make them happy or feel better right now.

When they’re ready, I share with their animal companion how and when the event is going to occur so it’s an easy transition.

Helping people say goodbye to their dogs

This time, though, I had a different opportunity – to help ta man say goodbye to his animals before he passed on.

I had not thought about how it might be hard to leave your animals without being able to say goodbye to them. But it is.

Richard had a stroke and was in a coma

Richard (not real names) had a stroke before Christmas. He was in the hospital in a coma. His wife Missy brought their two dogs to say goodbye to Richard. But even after that visit, Missy wasn’t sure the dogs understood that Richard was not coming home.

Richard and the dogs say farewell

With Missy’s permission, I had a session with Richard and the dogs. Our intuitive session  was remote because they were in South Carolina and I was in Virginia.

It’s definitely possible to contact people in comas. This is because their spirit is still alive even if their brain is shutting down.

During our session, Richard told the dogs he loved them. He let them know he’d be back in spirit to visit. He also let the dogs know that Missy was in charge now. That was important because he had been in charge of them when he was well.

Richard passed away about an hour after the session. It’s possible that he was waiting and hoping for his own farewell with the dogs before transitioning. So, it was a great privilege to help that family.

My bestselling book helps people and their beloved companions through the transition  – Peace in Passing: Comfort for Loving Humans during Animal Transitions.

This book helps you find your way as you realize your beloved animal may be nearing the end of their physical existence. What makes it special to me is all the stories that my clients (people and their animal companions) shared in Peace in Passing.

Listen to my interview with Pete Johnson, who does Mediumship for the Living.

Peter talks about his experiences helping people share whatever worries or concerns that keep them from transitioning. He then shares this with the family, so they can set the person’s mind at ease. Pete acts as the go between!
