What We Hear When We Listen Exploring Intuitive Bonds with Animals shares a conversation I had with Marika S. Bell in her podcast, The Deal with Animals.
Anthrozoologist Marika S. Bell explains that her podcast is about how humans connect with animals. In her introduction, she reminds those skeptical about animal communication that anthropology itself wouldn’t have gotten very far if we had ignored other people’s beliefs or experiences.
“We delve into intuitive animal communication with pet psychic and healer Maribeth Decker. She explains how energy and connection facilitate communication between humans and animals.
“Maribeth shares insights from her journey, experiences with her late dogs in spirit, and how she helps pet guardians connect with their animals’ emotional and spiritual worlds.
“The discussion [addresses] common questions about animal communication, the importance of understanding animals’ needs, and the role intuition plays in deepening human-animal bonds.
“Dive into this thought-provoking episode that challenges conventional views and encourages open-mindedness towards scientifically unexplained experiences.”
Marika advises skeptics to listen before they jump to conclusions. In other words, keep their minds open to what science has not yet explained. After all, everything seemed like magic before we understood how it worked, she reminds us.
I explained how intuitive communication works from my perspective. The brain functions by taking information from the senses and turning them into thoughts, sound, feeling, taste, or visuals. Intuitive communication is a higher vibration of information coming into the brain. Each individual’s mind translates that into something we can understand. It’s a two-way communication.
I work with many animals who come from tough backgrounds. In those cases, I use energy healing plus animal communication. This combination releases them from being stuck in that terrible time and place. Often, their people take part in the healing by sharing what they love about them while I amplify their love for their animal.
Many animal companions begin to truly enjoy their new home after our work. They become their best selves – the personality they were meant to be.
Marika responded, “That’s what we want for our pets, isn’t it? We want them to know that they are loved and they are safe.
“And when you’ve adopted a pet that’s had a bad experience, whether it’s from a shelter and they were abandoned somehow. Or you bought the dog and it turns out maybe they were from a puppy mill, which is also a very traumatic start to a life.
“You want them to know that they’re safe and that they can be themselves.”
Marika completed her MA in Anthrozoology at the University of Exeter, UK in 2016. Upon moving back to the Seattle area of Washington state she joined the board of Homeward Pet Adoption Center. Marika holds a BA in Zoology (UW) and a CPDT-KA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Now as host of The Deal with Animals, she enjoys chatting with authors, nonprofits, professionals, academics, and enthusiasts about the various ways they connect with animals. She also offers mentoring to others who are interested in starting podcasts around animal welfare, knowledge, and connection.
